Departing from either Bantry or Glengarriff, onboard our 3 hour Marine Wildlife Tour you might meet any of Bantry Bay’s underwater or airborne residents, from Glengarriff’s iconic white tailed sea eagle, common dolphins and porpoises to seals, lobsters, crabs, starfish, or – if you’re lucky – minke whales.

Local Wildlife

Dolphins are a regular sighting for us on the Marine Wildlife Tour, and their playful nature sometimes brings them right up to ride in the wake of the boat. Meanwhile, you’ll also be able to check out a charismatic bob of Atlantic Grey and common seals panned out on prominent rock formations along the coastline.

Haul A Pot

We’ll cruise around to a spot where you can help us haul up a lobster pot and take a look at the different kinds of crustaceans inside (you can touch them too if you like!). Sustainability is a massively important consideration to us, and during the Marine Wildlife boat tour, we’ll be taking care to tread lightly on the ecosystems we visit. When we pull up the pot, we always ensure to release baby lobsters and females with eggs back into the water.

Mackerel Fishing

You’ll also have the chance to try your hand at mackerel fishing. Bay fishing is a great way to spend the day with family or friends. Experience the thrill of catching your first ever fish or compete to catch the biggest one – you can even take home your supper!

Sea Eagle

Bird Watching

Birdwatchers, rejoice! During this boat tour, you’re also likely to see oystercatchers, grey heron, guillemot, razorbill, little egret, gannet, great northern diver, fulmar, swan, cormorant, shag, manx shearwater and all the gulls.

Make sure you come prepared for the adventure ahead by downloading our PDF checklist prior to your day on the bay.

All charters are dependent on weather and fish catches and dolphin/whale sightings cannot be guaranteed. The Irish weather and Atlantic Ocean sea conditions can be unpredictable during the year, even in summer. Our Skipper will make their decision to sail based on many years of experience, always keeping in mind passenger safety and comfort. However, depending on wind direction and swell, it may be possible to go ahead with your charter within sheltered waters.
