Eccles Hotel

The Eccles hotel and spa is a beautiful 4* Hotel situated in Glengarriff, West Cork. The hotel overlooks Glengarriff harbour, Bantry Bay along the Wild Atlantic Way route.

Since 1745 there has been hostelry/accommodation on the site of where the Eccles hotel currently stands. Records show that the Eccles hotel was first known as ‘BANTRY HOUSE‘ , Followed by ‘THE GLENGARRIFF INN’ and now as it's known ‘ECCLES HOTEL’.

It is understood that the name Eccles comes from a Mr Thomas Eccles. Thomas Eccles' son carried out major reconstruction of the hotel in 1890, this is when the hotel's name was changed to Eccles hotel. The Eccles family owned the hotel until the mid 1900s.

In 1918 to the 1920 the hotel was let to the British war office, where it was a home to injured and recovering soldiers during World War I.

Following this, the hotel was occupied by the British troops of the Essex regiment from 1920 through 1921.

Since then the hotel has changed hands numerous times but has remained a hotel to this day.

PARKING:
Glengarriff - Due to a lot of tour buses coming and going from the pier during the tourist season, it is not always possible to park along side it. Therefore we ask, where possible, to drop off passengers and bags near the pier and park your car along the top of the road.
Bantry - We will be picking up from the railway pier, therefore, you can drop passengers and bags close by the pier and park in the public car park along side Supervalu
IMPORTANT TRIP INFORMATION
All charters are dependent on weather and fish catches and dolphin/whale sightings cannot be guaranteed. The Irish weather and Atlantic Ocean sea conditions can be unpredictable during the year, even in summer. Our Skipper will make their decision to sail based on many years of experience, always keeping in mind passenger safety and comfort. However, depending on wind direction and swell, it may be possible to go ahead with your charter within sheltered waters.
