Love a good sunset? This tour is a fantastic way to see the South West coast and watch the sun go down over Hungry Hill.
Bantry Bay and Glengarriff harbour have an abundance of wildlife. On the Sunset tour, from when you leave the pontoon you encounter firstly local sea birds, including oyster catchers, curlew, grey herons, egrets, cormorants, Swans, and several species of duck. If you are very lucky you might see one of Glengarriff's white tailed Sea Eagles flying overhead.
A mixed colony of both Atlantic Grey Seals and Common Seals can be seen, hauled out on the prominent rocks and reefs as you pass by.
Harbour Porpoise are resident all year round. These shy and elusive creatures can be seen on our morning tours, as well as Common dolphins, who are a popular sighting with all visitors during this trip down the bay. Groups of adults and young from 8 to 50 in a group can be seen and often bow ride along with the boat, creating a lifetime memory for everyone onboard.
Minke Whales may be seen in pairs or small feeding groups and are regular visitors to Bantry Bay. These Baleen Whales are the smallest of their kind in Irish waters.
Of course, while we you out on the water we can supply rods and tackle so you can try your hand at fishing. Weather dependent, we like to do a spot of bottom fishing in the evening time. This can bring out the competitive side of people when the big fish start coming in!
All of this while the sun sets over the mountains. Don't forget your camera!
